Hello beautiful people 🌻
For our second Queer Film Night I’d like to share with you one of my most treasured queer indigenous films: Drunktown’s Finest (2014) by Sydney Freeland.
You all know by now how (annoyingly) passionate I am about indigenous films, so being able to share a film which involves both indigenous and queer character feels quite special. Another important element for me is the creative team behind the film, not just a film *about* indigenous and/or queer people but *by* queer and indigenous people. Sydney Freeland is Navajo/Dine and identifies as trans woman AND happens to be one of my favourite directors!
The film follows three characters as they try to understand what it might mean to be young, queer and indigenous and how healing can come from their communiti(es).
